The Journey is the Value

The Journey is the Value

Creatives find their joy in the flow. Shipping matters, and the economic output matters. But when the pressure to ship becomes greater than the desire to be in the process, dysregulation follows.

Serial entrepreneurs think they can do it again because they've done it once. Lightning doesn't strike the same bottle twice. Rush the destination and you'll arrive wishing you were back on the road you left.

This is road rage logic. Speeding gets you there two minutes faster. You could have enjoyed the drive.

Founders who become CEOs know this loss. The journey they fell in love with gets pulled out from under them. The boardroom fills with people obsessed with destinations, outcomes, and nothing else.

One generation's pursuit of stability in a time of scarcity becomes the next generation's prison.

Maybe the old man was right... the most human thing we can do is wander and enjoy the journey. Not all who wander are lost -- they're just in flow.
